JSQL/Ingres Software
Kettle River supports the JSQL/Ingres product line. JSQL/Ingres is used by companies worldwide to provide Java applications access to Ingres databases. The two architects of the JSQL/Ingres product work with Kettle River to support it. While Kettle River no longer actively develops the JSQL/Ingres product, we do maintain the product as needed to meet our customers’ needs.
General JSQL/Ingres Notes
Kettle River will continue to support the JSQL/Ingres product line through at least June 1st, 2012. We will give all customers under current maintenance one (1) year notice if we decide to sunset the product.
Kettle River has no plans to enhance the product beyond the JDBC 2.0 specification, but we will create new builds for new versions of operating systems and of Ingres. We will also recompile the client under new JDKs as required.
Only unlimited user licenses are available.
We are requiring one year of maintenance and support with each new license. Any back maintenance must be paid with maintenance renewal, even if the back maintenance predates the transfer of the product from Caribou Lake Software to Kettle River Consulting Inc.
JSQL/Ingres is supported on a set of CORE and NON-CORE platforms. Support costs for CORE platforms are much lower since Kettle River maintains the infrastructure required to support the JSQL/Ingres product internally. For NON-CORE platforms Kettle River requires that the customer provide development platform access for Kettle River’s use. Access can either be by via SSH or VPN. If no such access can be granted, other financial arrangements have to be made.
CORE platforms are:
- Solaris SPARC version 8, 9, and 10
- Solaris x86 version 8, 9, and 10
- Windows 2000 Server, 2003 Server, 32-bit
- Linux 32-bit Intel platforms kernel 2.6
NON-CORE platforms are:
- HP/Compaq AlphaVMS
- HP-UX (both PA-RISC and Integrity/Itanium)
- HP/Compaq Tru-64 (aka OSF/1 aka DEC UNIX aka Ultrix)
- AIX
- SCO UNIX
- UNIXWARE
Pricing for new JSQL/Ingres licenses is $2999 per server. There is no per-processor core charge. You can also have multiple hostnames on the same server. Maintenance is 20% of the new license cost per year for CORE platforms and 40% per year for NON-CORE platforms. Usage of the JSQL/Ingres product is subject to the license agreement and support policy.
