[Info-Ingres] delete_oldest_ckp deletes two checkpoints

Gidday Marty,
I'd argue that the checkpoint history is quite valuable and should be
available all the time. Usually I need this info to answer a question like:
which transaction in the last week changed this particular critical record?
On rare occasions I've been asked to restore a table that was accidentally
corrupted last week but "we only just found out"
I can bring the database back any point in time using my checkpoints and
journals - but not if I delete the history. I usually dont have enough room
in the ckp or jnl locations to store all the checkpoint files I need, so I
create symbolic links to a secondary storage area which has been recovered
from backup.
I prefer not to use the function

ps.
hows the weather? I'm up here on the "Sunshine Coast" We had 95mm rain in 24
hrs earlier this week. The inlaws are looking forward to hot christmas
dinner crammed into the dining room with fans and aircon running full
throttle. Melbourne (well Ferny Creek)
had over 80mm in 2 days. (last christmas it snowed)

Hi Paul
How can an invalid checkpoint be valuable?
If there is a problem with alterdb, then I'd put my money on it trimming
the infodb list.

Maybe there should be a failsafe here?
If I have three checkpoints and one is invalid, I may well think that I
will
be left with two checkpoints, but in reality I'm only going to have one.
Maybe the one I didn't ask to be deleted is valuable?
Paul
