Probably.
There is ample precedent for backwardly incompatible changes to checkpoints
and this is a common problem that is only going to come up more often.
It is easy to fix, but it is hard to see why one should be happy to have to.
If that is the problem and you do fix it, be sure the make the corresponding
change for rollforward too, and then test it.
