Hello, all. At long last, I have posted a source RPM package. This
file, as well as my test builds for the following platforms are
available:
- RHEL 4 x86_64
- RHEL 5 x86_64
- Fedora 7 i386
Download them here:
http://community.ingres.com/downloads/rpms/
As I cannot stress enough, while these are based on the GA release of
Ingres 2006 r2, they are *experimental* and have not been through QA.
I was simply trying to make sure that Ingres would build from source
and start up properly in these environments.
These packages assume that you have the distro's "pax" and "krb5-
devel" packages installed, as well as xerces 2.7 (including the "-
devel" component), which I obtained from here: http://dag.wieers.com/rpm/packages/xerces-c/
Also, since the RHEL distros don't ship jam, I grabbed packages from
the CentOS extras repository here: http://centos.karan.org/
Note that if you have installed xerces and jam by other means than
RPM, rpm will complain that you don't meet the BuildRequires
constraints. You can get around this by installing the source rpm
with "rpm -ivh --nodeps" and removing the BuildRequires lines from the
spec file before you build. rpmbuild doesn't seem to have a nodeps
option. Sorry.
One last thing: you might notice that I changed the version for these
to "9.1.0.123" ... this is a bit different from our standard
versioning, but it makes things more clear for me when I'm keeping
multiple Ingres tarballs in my "SOURCES" directory to name them that
way.
I hope this helps some people, and I appreciate any feedback you might
have.
