You can achieve that with Ingres Star (see http://docs.ingres.com/star/toc).
Take car, all SQL statements are not supported with Star (application
compatibility). See http://docs.ingres.com/star/SQLStatementSummary#o2097
2. In the current applciations as it is a single production database,

Aliases are synosyms. See http://docs.ingres.com/sqlref/CreateSynonym and
http://docs.ingres.com/sqlref/DropSynonym for details).
Has anyone handled such a scenario?
Personaly no, but i think too for one of my customer and I guess sometimes
it can give some way to workaround performance or high avaibility issues
(Start + Replication + multiple server node)
Can anyone help me?
Well, many of us can answer to questions (and sell to your company a perfect
service project to go straight forward with the result ;-)) but keep in mind
- has suggest Roy Hann in his reply - dealing with Star is "an other world",
due to some geographic contraint and housekeeping issues (just have a look
on unload/reload of a Star database ...), etc.
I hope you have :
- time
- environment for testing
- method and data to test
Last thing to say can be read the documentation and use vmware to test ...
;-)
